Life: An Exploded Diagram - Mal Peet

I have just finished reading this - a brilliant read for sixth formers in particular. It is about a boy called Clem and is told through him via flash backs, moving from the past of his parents and grandmother to his own teenage years - particularly about his first love, Frankie and the events that led up to the Cuban Missile Crisis.

I didn't know an awful lot about this time period and found it fascinating. I was also very drawn in by the characters, wanting to read on to find out what happens next...the ending was sudden and I wasn't sure about it initially, but fits in with the rest of the book perfectly.

One not to miss.
